Many areas have picked up between 3 and 6 inches of rain since yesterday, and flooding continues across the area today. The Tennessee River at Florence will go into flood stage soon, and remain in flood through the weekend.
Rain continues today but should start to taper off this afternoon. Expect another half to one inch today. Colder air in the upper levels arrives tonight and will change leftover showers into snow flurries. With warm ground temps and air temps above freezing, no issues are expected. You can see the areas of flurries on the HRRR forecast below. This image is valid for 10pm tonight.
We dry out Friday afternoon and remain cool. High temps will be in the 40s.
Another weak system moves through on Saturday, but showers should remain light with this. No additional flooding issues are expected with this system.
Sunday looks like our last dry day before entering the rain forest again next week. Showers return Monday, and continue right through Thursday. Heavy rainfall amounts are expected in the range of another 3 to 6 inches by next Friday.. I have attached the Euro and GFS models below with total rain forecast through next Friday which is Valentine’s Day.
Stay dry today! Have a great Thursday!
