Kory Pilet is a Meteorologist for the Shoals Weather StormTrack Team and has been in that position since February 2014.
Originally from South Louisiana, Kory relocated to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to study geology and geography, with a focus in hydrology at the University of Alabama. Having lived in both Louisiana and Alabama, Kory is well acquainted with forecasting weather ranging from tropical to severe to winter weather. From experiencing Hurricane Katrina to having Tuscaloosa, his second home, ravaged by a tornado, the drive to study weather and forecast was instilled early on.
Kory is passionate about all earth and atmospheric sciences. This passion has driven him to serve the Shoals community with accurate forecasts. His meteorological knowledge was acquired through both self taught courses and undergraduate lectures. Kory shadowed at the New Orleans National Weather Service in 2009-2010 during high school. That experience has proved priceless in the techniques and skills learned from some of the best meteorologists. But that passion for extends beyond forecasting for Shoals Weather for Kory. He frequently partakes in outdoor recreational activities, such as kayaking and hiking. And in the fall, you can find him on the Quad cheering the Crimson Tide on at every home game.
